Old wallpaper and uneven walls can turn a simple repaint into a repair job. We first check what is underneath: plasterboard, plaster, masonry or an existing coating. We also look for loose material, moisture and stains before choosing a repair system.
The aim is a surface that is sound, smooth enough for the promised finish, clean and dry. If there is active damp, significant mould or an unstable substrate, we identify that before decorating is priced or started.
What the work can include
- Inspect the substrate, coating and visible defects
- Remove wallpaper and adhesive where included
- Fill, feather and sand local damage
- Use lining paper, skim or specialist repair only when specified
- Seal or prime the surface before the final paint system where needed
How we build the quote
We list removal, repair, drying and primer work separately from paint. That makes the quotation understandable and protects you from a misleading low price for walls that need substantial preparation.
Can you paint straight over old wallpaper?
We inspect it first. Loose seams, trapped moisture or damaged backing usually need attention before a reliable finish can be promised.
